Weight Loss Medications

There are so many supplements and remedies that claim they can help people lose weight that if you try to sort it all out and narrow it down to the one you might like to take, it can make your head spin. You best bet is to enlist the help of your doctor and get him or her to prescribe one of the few FDA-approved weight loss medications available.

Most FDA-approved weight loss medications do require a prescription from your doctor so talk to them first to see what they recommend. There is one medication that is FDA approved that you can get OTC, or over the counter, and that is the medication called Alli.

Alli is intended for people over the age of 18 and contains the fat blocking compound called orlistat. Orlistat prevents the absorption of fats from your diet by stopping the enzyme lipase from breaking the fat down. The fat is then passed directly through your digestive tract and may cause unpleasant side effects like anal leakage, oily spotting, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, and excess gas.

Due to this fact, Alli should be taken along with a diet low in fat. The lower your fat intake the less you will suffer from these unpleasant side effects. It would stand to reason that if you consume less fat in your diet then you will lose weight.

Orlistat also comes in a prescription medication called Xenical which is twice the strength of Alli with 120 mg of the fat blocker. Therefore, Xenical should only be used if you are extremely overweight and only under your doctor’s supervision. With the dosage being double what it is in Alli you will most likely experience serious digestive side effects and will also most likely need some supplementation because decreased fat absorption will also take with it vitamins and minerals you need to stay healthy.

Meridia is another prescription medication used for weight loss that works by affecting the area of the brain that controls satiety. This area of the brain is one of the feel good areas that elevates your mood and decreases your appetite. Side effects of Meridia include and increase in blood pressure so it must be used with extreme caution or not at all if you already have high blood pressure.

Other side effects include restlessness, dizziness, tremors, and insomnia. Meridia is mainly used to decrease the feeling of hunger and should be taken along with a healthy diet and moderate daily exercise.

There are two other weight loss medications available that should only be used in extremely obese people and only for a jumping off point for those who need to see results quickly. They are called Adipex-P and Sanorex and are both highly addictive.

Capable of some serious side effects like hallucinations, heart palpitations, high blood pressure, seizures, tremors and changes in insulin production. Both should be used under very strict supervision by your doctor due to the fact that they can also interact with other prescription or over the counter medications you are already taking.

Weight Loss Medicine

You need to be so careful when trying to decide what weight loss medicine to use. You can never be sure if the ones out there are safe for you or if they will even be effective. In fact, there may be some out there that are completely unsafe for you to use.

If you are determined to go the route of using a weight loss medicine to help you lose weight then do yourself the greatest favor of all and talk to your doctor about what they might recommend for you to take. Your doctor should be able to help you choose one that has at least been approved by the FDA, like Alli.

You can get Alli, is the very first over the counter medication used to aid in weight loss. Alli is a half strength version of the prescription weight loss drug Orlistat and is taken three times a day with meals. Make sure those meals are low in fat because Alli blocks the fat you eat from being metabolized by the body.

What this means is that the fat you eat does not get broken down and is passed directly through you digestive system. This may not seem like a big deal but if you do not watch the fat content of what you eat you will most likely experience the side effects of the drug.

Side effects include possible anal leakage, or at least an oily discharge, diarrhea and excess gas. It is in your best interest to change your diet to a low fat one. A thirty day supply of Alli will cost you about $50.

Your doctor may recommend one of the FDA approved weight loss drugs that you need a prescription for. Two of the most popular are Meridia and the full strength Orlistat called Xenical.

Before you ask for one of these though, be sure that your insurance carrier will cover the cost, they are expensive. A thirty day supply of the Meridia will run you over two hundred dollars and the Xenical will go almost double that at three hundred-eighty dollars.

Even though these drugs are approved by the FDA they still can have significant side effects that you need to watch out for. Meridia can cause your blood pressure to raise. If you already have a problem with your blood pressure then your doctor may not recommend this weight loss drug to you. Other side effects include headaches, insomnia, and constipation.

Xenical has pretty much the same side effects as Alli but since this weight loss medicine is double the strength of Alli then the side effects may be more pronounced and therefore could become debilitating if your diet is not adjusted even before you start taking it.

So, at the risk of repeating myself, talk at length with your doctor if you want to take a weight loss drug to help you low the weight you want to lose. Your doctor will steer you in the right direction and help you make the best decision for your situation.

Is Life Really A Rat Race?

T

he metaphor of the rat race as a way to talk about the nature of contemporary life is instructive. I wonder about its origin. And just what is a rat race? I picture a maze in some scientific laboratory with a dozen rodents scrambling in all directions, trying with great frustration to find their way to freedom. Is that a rat race? Did anyone tell the rats they were in a race? Is there really a winner in a rat race?

And that we should choose this metaphor as a way to talk about the way we live our lives is……what? Alarming? “Well, we have got to get going and join the rat race.” We do? Well, that is what we have always been told and tell everybody else. That is how we were educated in school to understand that life is a rat race. We did not have a choice to choose what we want to hear since we were born.

The metaphors we use not only reflect the way we live, but create the way we live. If we call life a rate race, it will tend to become one.

So let’s change the metaphors. Here are a few suggestions:

Life is a cat prowl. I envision slow and care steps, a calm awareness of what is going on in my neighborhood, and a pace that suits my needs.

Life is a dog walk. I move now with lively interest, with stopping and goings, encounters with other dogs, trees, and people, always ready to respond to a friendly petting.

Life is a fox trot. Here is a bouncy-stepped way to dance through life. Find a partner! You can always sit the next one out.

Life is a monkey march. Life is a pony canter. Life is a whale breach. Life is a swallow soar. Life is a pig parade. Life is an elephant lope. Life is a panda bear excursion (I pick this)

Atkins Diet Plan-Old But Is It True

If you are interested in losing weight the Atkins Diet plan may be just what you are looking for. The theory behind this plan is to significantly lower your carb intake. When you lower your carb intake the body does not have that immediate energy to burn or store. What happens then is the body will naturally go to it’s next available source to get that energy, which is your stored fat.

The first step in the Atkins diet plan is called the induction phase. For the first two weeks your daily carb intake should be less than 20 grams per day. And no bad carbs at all. In addition, you get to eat all the protein you can handle. Lean meat, fish, shrimp, milk, cheese, and yogurt, just to name a few.

The only carbs you can eat will come from vegetables like sprouts, celery, cabbage, cucumbers and mushrooms. You get the idea, fresh vegetables taste the best. You can cook them, steam them, or eat them raw, it is all the same. This is the phase of the diet that you will see the most significant weight loss.

The second step in the diet plan is called the OWL, or the ongoing weight loss, phase. Your weight loss will slow down somewhat with this step because you will be slowly starting to increase your carb intake. Continue to stick with the good carbs, though, you do not want to mess things up now.

Adding 5 grams of carbs back in per week while you monitor your weight closely. When you reach the point when you are no longer losing 1-2 pounds per week back off the carbs a bit. This step should bring you within 10-15 pounds of your goal weight, so naturally it will take the longest.

The nest step is the pre-maintenance phase. This is the time you begin to increase your carb intake by 10 grams each week. When you hit the plateau, continue eating the exact same number of carbs for one month. Hopefully, you have decided to add some daily exercise in with this diet, too.

When the month is up add 10 more grams of carbs, if you begin to gain weight then decrease the carbs again by 10 grams per week until you begin to lose weight again. You should still be losing 1 pound per week during this phase. Make sure you are staying hydrated throughout this plan, as well. Stay away from pop, drink water or green tea.

When your reach you goal weight and enter into the maintenance phase you should be pretty well schooled on how many grams of carbs you can safely take in in one day. This is the amount you should stick with and not go over if you want to maintain your current weight. By the time you get to this point you should be at your goal weight and you can call yourself a success at using the Atkins diet plan.

How to play among us?

Among Us is a multiplayer game where 10 players get dropped into an alien spaceship, sky headquarters or planet base, where each player is designated with a private role of either a “crewmate” and an “impostor.” This is an online multiplayer social deduction game, and a player can either be a crewmate or an imposter. One can play the game online or on local WiFi with their selected friends.

If you become the imposter you have to secretly kill the crewmates before they complete the given tasks. If a crewmate sees you doing it they can call a meeting and can vote and kick the imposter out. So the killing should be done secretly. There can be more than 1 imposter depending on the game settings which you have chosen and if there are lot of crewmates. Of course, being an imposter is a lot more fun as you can betray and kill your friends.

If you are just a crewmate you have to run around and complete the tasks, tasks are shown in the map. You can go to the location of the tasks by looking at the map. All the tasks should be completed before the imposter kills all. Then only the crewmates will win.

How long does it take to get to the moon?

Moon is 386400 km away from earth. Around 10 times the circumference of the Earth. So it would take as long as driving around the world 10 times – just under six months.

It takes about 3 days for a spacecraft to reach the Moon.

Spacecraft should travel at least 240,000 miles (386,400 kilometers) which is the distance between Earth and the Moon. The specific distance depends on the specific path chosen.

If you drive a car and drove in a straight line for 60mph, it would take six months to get to the moon.

The first spacecraft to make it to the Moon was the Luna 2.

The Luna 2 was made by the Soviet Union, and it reached the Moon in 1959. The Luna 2 took a direct path to the Moon, and the journey took approximately 34 hours.

The shortest trip to the Moon was undertaken in 2006 by NASA, by the probe New Horizons. New Horizons travelled at 58,000 km/hr, and arrived at the Moon in 8 and a half hours.

Belly Fat Lose Weight A Package All Over Deal

I know you have been told this a million times but if you want to lose belly fat you must lose weight all over. You cannot just spot reduce. There are quite a few core body exercises that you can do to tone and strengthen your abdominal muscles but you just can’t do one without losing weight all over. Losing weight is a package deal.

The bigger the package the longer your journey will take so the sooner you get started the better. Before you even start to worry about one specific area the best thing you can do is learn to strengthen your core.

Your core is just that, the middle of your body, abs, ribcage, and lower back. These muscles are what hold you upright and help keep you balanced. When they get weak, you will find you lose your balance more often than not and may even start falling because of it.

Weakened muscles in your core can lead to instability in your lower back and cause you to have pain, or worse yet, a herniated disc. If you have ever had a herniated disc you know that it is extremely painful. They take forever to heal and will flare up at any time. Usually when you least expect it.

When you belly fat lose you will decrease the pressure on your joints and back and decrease the level of pain you feel. In fact, if you were to lose just 10% of your total body fat you could increase your mobility and decrease your pain by about 30%. Every ten percent body fat lost takes approximately 100 pounds of pressure off your lower back and legs. Save those knees and that lower back. Lose the weight.

Do yourself a favor too, while losing the weight, find a good chiropractor. They can adjust your spine and make everything start flowing (your chi) better while you are in transition from being fat to becoming fit and thin.

If the chiropractor you find is also a slash physical therapist, you can even have them show you exercises to begin your work outs with and progress into more intense strengthening exercises.

Do you have kids? Can you get outside to play with them? If you can, then do. It will be good for them and good for you. If you play with your kids it will not seem like a work out but you will be surprised how children’s games can be an excellent source of exercise for all concerned.

Run, jump rope, play tag, hide and seek, any of those games we all used to play with our brothers and sisters and all the neighbor kids out in the front yard when we were young. Some friends of mine and I were just talking about those games we used to play and I had to do a search to relearn how to play Ghost in the Graveyard.

Who says you have to stop playing just because you get older? Find that inner child again and let them help you belly fat lose.
